One of the biggest events for the RuneScape 3 player base — Double XP Weekend — is happening on February 21st with a few modifications.
Developed by Jagex, the massive multiplayer online role playing game (MMORPG), RuneScape, has been around for 19 years. It still sees tens of thousands of players logged into the game daily between the two platforms of Old School RuneScape and RuneScape 3, according to this graph.
RuneScape’s Double XP Weekend is exactly what it sounds like: a weekend where all in-game experience will be doubled for members, while non-Members will receive a 20% increase of experience earned.
However, rather than limiting Double XP Weekend strictly to the weekend, as they have done in the past, developers behind RuneScape have reworked a more accommodating model for its user base by making it over a week long.
If a user logs into their account during any of the active Double Experience Weekend days, Feb. 21st – Mar. 2nd, a timer will appear on their interface that counts backwards from 48 hours.
Players will still only receive a weekend’s worth of double experience, but they now have the flexibility needed to benefit from every hour of it.
This modification was first implemented Nov. 22nd to Dec. 2nd of 2019, but initially allowed for 36 hours of extra experience, according to the RuneScape Wiki.
For anyone who was looking to get into a new game, or those who haven’t visited RuneScape in quite some time, double experience weekend is one of the best times to start.
