Global Village: Ty Zazueta Invites You to Talk

By Ty Zazueta, Student Contributor

My name is Ty Zazueta. I’m an Army Veteran, and an aspiring physicist. I started at PPCC last semester after serving four years as a medic, two of which I lived in Germany.

I spend my free time volunteering at the Space Foundation Discovery Center in Colorado Springs, sharing my knowledge of space exploration and colonization with other space enthusiasts.

Since I began attending Global Village’s roundtable discussions last semester, we have had some very fascinating conversations including space colonization, U.S.-Mexico border policy, and C02 emissions. The topics at Global Village discussions oftentimes spark unexpected and thought-provoking insight.

I’ve found that Global Villages provides a unique opportunity for my fellow students and myself to have unabridged conversations on topics that are relevant, and oftentimes enlightening.

The conversations that don’t happen in class due to time restraints are often elaborated on at the roundtable discussions, allowing for a unique academic environment–students and professors together in a more social environment than the classroom.

Like its name implies, the Global Village roundtable discussions bring together people from diverse backgrounds and allow us to collaborate on ideas and concepts that affect us globally.

Even after having traveled extensively throughout Europe and America, Global Village has served to remind me that there is still so much more to learn about people, and the world around us.
